Something very similar to this was advertised on the tele this morning and now my son is dead keen for one.

Just wondering what peoples views are on encouraging children so young to play at body modification ?

Me too I would like to know people opinion about this. My son is 3 years old and about 3 or 4 months ago received a free 'temporary tattoo' from a McDonalds and was very happy with it on his arm. A few days later, during a Canadian day show in the park near us, someone drawn a butterfly on his other arm and he liked it too. Now he tells me all the time he want more 'tattoos'...

Hi Guys,

I have a little boy who will be 2 at Christmas. He's too young yet to understand tattoos but he very often has a poke at mine and seems to find them interesting - think i have a while yet before i have to worry about toys like this though.

My opinion on this is that i don't see any harm in it at all. Thinking back to my own childhood has lead me to this conclusion. No-one in my immediate family was tattoo'd and i had no interest in them til my teens but i can remember spending hours as a child doodling on my skin with pens - as did all my friends. I think children will express there natural tendencies towards body decoration with or without these toys. So if they are likely to draw on themselves anyway why not let them have a toy that will help them do it artistically? Come on guys you must have done this as little ones too - didn't your mum frighten you by telling you you'd get blood poisoning drawing on yourself in a vain effort to keep you clean lol Wink

It's not really any different to the transfers kids get with sweets or even face painting. it's all another way to play.
