Hi, long time lurker first time threadstarter!!

Well I have not long had my 4th tattoo (though I dont claim to be any expert or anything of the like) and it healed up fine, the scabs took 4 days to a week to drop off and everything was going well.

Except now every day there is more 'peel' (like sunburn almost) on top of the tattoo. I have been nowhere near sun (I wish... its done nothing but rain for the last week and I have not been out anyway) and I havent picked it or touched with unclean hands *honest!! So I am just wondering what is causing this and will it stop and will it affect the piece in the long term?
It looks really great when moisturised, but after its dried the layer of peel becomes noticable again (the layer of skin is clear new skin not inky).

For all I know this could be perfectly normal as the tattoo itself shows no imperfections and was done very profeesionally. I just dont remember there being any dead skin on my other tattoos after it had healed and the inky scabs had dropped off. Also it doesnt seem to be getting better, if anything the peel is covering a larger area now.

*It is medium/large, on one side of my ribs, a black silhoutte, one color (black!)

Thanks guys!! Just wanted to be set straight on this one!

It is normal to have a "second " peel , infact i am having one right now , got some work done 10 days ago , all scabbed and healed with in 4-5 days and am now having the usual light peel .
Not all my tats do this but on my arms it happens with each session , leg did not though .
but don't panic , just keep a small amount of cream up to it .
