Hey everyone
i need some help, ideas, inspiration maybe...have come thru tough time early this year.....sober now, and lovin life..
i want to get a tattoo on my inner wrist to mark my recovery, a constant reminder of the inner strength i found within, and my resolve never to go back to an addicts life... i'm thinking text or symbol, perhaps 'serenity' in a fancy font...or maybe a lotus flower design - blossoming after battling my way out of the mud...being on my wrist tho would like something sorta small..
will be my first tatt, but a tatt that is gonna mean something to me forever...anyone care to comment? suggest? would be much appreciated, namaste |

Well done on overcoming your addiction.
I hear exactly what you are saying, you want something to remind you of how strong you were to come through this.
Have you thought of an animal maybe, or a chinese symbol for "strength", or perhaps a religious symbol?
Was there something/someone in particular that helped you through the tough times? |

Congrats!!!!!!!
Maybe also visit some shops and talk to the artist about your idea. I'm sure they have seen it all and might know just what you want.
Theres no charge to talk.
Animal tattoos are big in there meaning. |

I am pretty sure that there will be a universal symbol for your recovery. I have recently recovered from an eating disorder myself and although I am aware that there is a symbol out there that is created for a person like me, I don't have it anywhere on my body because I am ashamed of what I was. I am ashamed of what I could so easily become again.
I am proud of you for being so strong and beating your addiction. I think the lotus flower is an especially good idea. Like some others have said though, I would go into a shop and find the perfect tattooist (someone you get on with very well and whose ideas match your own) and discuss it at great lengths with them. Obviously A tattoo is for life, not just for christmas, and you don't want to be regretting it. |
