Hmmm bit of a dillemma here in the past i have never felt the need to tip a tattoo artist but i am soon to start my first session work tattoo due to the amount of extra work the artist's tend to put into session work I am curious what the protocol for tipping is.

Should i reward the artist at the end of each session with a little bit extra ? Should i tip him at the end of the piece ? Or should i give the tat man a pressie at the end a bottle of whiskey etc ?

What does everyone else do ?

P.S. I said England only in the title because different countries have different protocols around this if you are not from the UK please reply just mention where your from.

i certainly think you dont need to tip..
i think we pay a lot of money in the first place..
not bad pay for work that can be done in say 2 hours..

never have tipped, but if you want to give a pressie at the end, it makes it more personal..a bottle of whisky is a nice idea..and doesnt make for tipping every time. It sounds a bit american tipping..

My thoughts exactly and as you say it tattooing is hardly cheap in this country.
