| I have three tattoos currently all of them were covering some old prison tat's that were done in my younger days, I guess it was just time to change things for me seeing how much I have changed through the years from one of the meanest nastiest dudes you ever wanna meet to the cool calm guy I am today, believe me being my old self got me in alot trouble in my younger days prison and some major bull in my life growing up. So now I collect tattoos and design them for people but now it's all about the art of it not just the fact of being a badass and the appearance of all the tat's. I am currently working on a whole bodysuite piece by piece as I design them most of them are about things that have been in my life and my belief's on things. So enough about this old hard ass bugger what about some of you others letting us in on whom we are sharing things with in these forums ???? |

| I had a great first expierence. I was young 15 and the guy that did my tattoo was great he was so worried about me having pain and kept checking on me. He was a great artist and I love my tattoo, I have no regrets about getting it. I have never had any infection with it or any other problems for that matter and I have hardly any fading. |

I have 3 tattoos! The first one that I got is a heart with devil horns as love is the devil to me. I have never had much luck there! It was a little painful since I got it on my chest and had to watch the whole time! The coloring was the worst part and then the shading of course. The second tattoo that I go was a 4 leaf clover to bring me luck and that was on the top of my foot and really did not hurt at all. Then the final one is a Tiger ripping through the skin, this one is my favorite and was not painful at all and it is fairly large.
I would just suggest that anyone thinking about a tattoo for the first time do your reseach, find a good shop and artist, and make sure that you are doing it for you and that the design is what you want. |

Some time ago the ink itch set in and i came to the conclusion that it was time to paint some more of my temple.
However I fancied doing something a bit different from my previous colouring in sessions so after some exhaustive internet time wasting i wandered in to a studio in Brighton and spent some time chatting to a fellow called Tatu Pier.
I should point out at this point that Pier is wired up slightly differenent from most people he is very cool and a really reassuring person.
He also tattoos a bit differently from most people in so much as he works with chopsticks bonded to needles and inserts each drop of ink by hand.
So some time later we had settled on a nautical star on the back of my arm, so cometh the hour cometh the ink after being taught how to make the tools we where using and then making the tools that Pier was going to use opn me I was introduced to the tattoo room. A large mattress on a raised platform in a room that is designed to look like the caves that the neanderthal man lived in.
The tattoo took almost seven hours of poking and is roughly six inches by six inches with many lines being inked six times !
By the end of the process i was so insanley chilled that i wanted to just carry on being tattooed for ever hand work is superb.
The tattoo was healed inside of a week and has now developed a truly organic and flowing look that none of my machine work has.
If you have the time and can get to a hand tattooist then do it it truly is a totally differenent experience. |

Wow, that sounds incredible!
I've got four tattoos at the moment. My first was such a buzz i think i was on a high for a good month afterwards lol. i've always wanted tattoos, i love them and i guess i wanted to be a bit different. I went with my husband, although we weren't married back then i was only 18, and a friend of ours who has some serious tattoos. I felt so much a part of the whole 'scene' it was wonderful to feel i fitted in somewhere, you know what it's like in your teens it was a busy day and the studio was packed. people were so friendly and chatted to me about what i wanted and how it would feel etc. i was so scared of the pain but i knew i'd see it through. I was relieved to find it hardly hurt at all and when i came out everyone wanted to see it.. it was a smallish tribal rose and perfect for a first tattoo on a young girl. I felt i'd been really taken care of and like i was someone special.
That was enough to get me hooked!
For my next tattoo i meant business. i chose a tribal design and had it enlarged to cover the top of my back. I could tell my tattooist was enjoying doing a piece away from the usual run of the mill Saturday small pieces. Again everyone in the shop was lovely but this time there was an assistant on and he kept popping out to tell my hubby how well i was handling it. That night we went out and the assistant was in the pub, it was band night and there was a great rock band playing but inadvertantly i caused quite a distraction because the assistant had decided to tell everyone in the pub about this young girl who'd had a big tattoo done that day so when i walked in it was like everyone knew me. Great night lol!
Next was a bit of a mistake. I wanted another tribal on my lower back but my usual guy was shut. i was young and stupid and went to another guy. the experience was great, again they were lovely but this time hubby got to come in with me and watch it being done. Everything looked fine til it healed and now it's a bit patchy but you live and learn. i'll probably get it re-done in a few years. I was photographed in the studio because the two designs looked great together then and were going to be part of a full back piece but over the years i've piled on the weight so they don't look so hot now. must do something about that.....I would love to finish it off one day.
my last was a bit of a disappointment as you all know because i don't think it looks straight. it's a vine around my left ankle but i will hopefully get that sorted next week.
I love everything about getting tattoo's. The preparation, the anticipation then the actual experience itself but most of all i love the feeling when you walk away knowing you have changed your body forever, it's such a powerful feeling for me. I'm sure a shrink would have a field day figuring out why i love it so much but i don't care, i just love tattoos! |

| ok, I currently have seven tats. My first one is a wildcat on my leg, it actually is a cover up of a jailhouse tat. I was a bit nervous at first because the jailhouse was only done with a needle, a little thread and some ink, so I was nervous of an actual tat gun. I was suprised when he started it didn't hurt a bit. I got such a rush I was hooked. It was about four years later when I finally got unstrapped for cash then I really started. I got my daughters initials first, then her portrait, then my last name and first name, got my sons name and a memorial to my belated grandmother. next is my sons portrait, and no telling what after that. |

ok......currently I have a japanese sleeve in progress on my left arm and chest....dragon on my chest going over my shoulder onto my back...a koi carp , a snake and a tiger on the left arm. I have a panther tear through on my right shoulder, my daughters names in scroll with a sun and moon design on my right arm and a small tribal piece on the top of my right arm.
The guy who does my tattoos is expanding his shop in the new year and has asked me to come and work for him...he is going to apprentice me..which is what I've wanted for years and I can't wait!!!
They are a great bunch and there is always loads of banter in the shop...like if someone is getting something on their back and the other artist finishes and says "what do you think?" someone will say "it's great..but did he/she want it upside down!!!" or once when I was in, a girl was having "Aries" tattooed on her back just below the neck line...when he had finished he said " that's it...but why did you want HAIRY tattooed on your back?" her face was a picture...but she laughed when she realised he was only joking with her.
Anyone else got any shop banter like this??? |

I have only one I got three weeks ago (not finished only the outline) of a koi swimming past a lotus blossom. Now not only was this my first tattoo, it is large and on the middle of my upper back 11 inches long from my neckline to my braline and 8 inches wide.
I should also note I have been afraid of needles (or rather sensitive to needle pain) all my life.
But I decided that I didn't want to let pain dictate my life anymore and I've always said that if I got a tattoo I would want it to be a centerpiece for my back so that if I had to turn my back to someone, I could give them something just as beautiful as my smile and it would tell them something about me. Koi in water represent overcoming adversity and stoicism as well as courage. The lotus blossom is key in buddhism for awakening of your inner self and your compassionate heart as it has to grow up through the mud and water to bloom. Both elements honed in on this period in my life of finally coming into my own at 25 years old.
Also, it is simply beautiful. Japanese waterblocks to me have always been breathtaking ("The Great Wave Off Kanagawa" by Katsushika Hokusai is my all time favorite masterpiece!)
It took 2 hours to do the whole complicated outline and yes, it hurt. My back has more nerve receptors than I'd like to admit but I had two choices: squirm and complain and frusterate my artist as well as pay more by him taking longer to fix mistakes or stop being a baby and transform the pain into something good. There are plenty of people put through FAAAR less pain and don't get anything beautiful out of it. Plus...oh the feeling of cool cloth put on a freshly finished piece feels like heaven in comparison. I realized that getting tattooed gets rid of knots on your back too!!!! Good for someone who gets them all the time! Anyhow, I am hoping coloring won't be as bad and I can get it all done in the second session. It seemed the longer I was in the chair the easier it went.
All in all beautiful and unforgettable experience...pain or no. |

I have five tattoos, and had good experiences with each one. A brilliant chap called Mark Smith has done them all for me, and I trust him implicitly to tell me if I opt for something which he thinks is a bad choice. The first tattoo I had done was my wrist, and I got myself a little worked up and fainted twice. After that I knew what to expect and all have been great experiences and I love them all. I certainly think they're addictive once you get started.
I'm a 38 year old mum of three, having had my first tattoo at the age of 32.

While I was in the tatt shop at Airlie Beach on Saturday there were a few people in there.... Got the tatt on my hand done first..was pleased with it..a bit out of line but ok....worth the wait...... well after much deliberation and many many many years of never wanting to tattoo a man's name on my body, I finally caved in and got my b/f's name on my neck....The tattooist was great, he was talking a bit and then he yelled to the other guy..."Hey, I still dunno why women come in here and get the word 'Vince' tattooed on themselves... I started laughing so hard that he almost couldn't finish the tatt.....my b/f's name is Lance.....Some tattooists are terrific and know how to treat their customers well! |

i sat in the chair....a fat ugly old lady walked over....
i gave her my drawing....
i said i want the stars slightly smaller,
she put it in the scaner
and printed out a transfer sheet,
transfered it onto my wrist,
i said "you put them upside down...wtf"
i made her wash it all off and start again,
she transfered it on,
i still wasnt happy with placement,
i took the next transfer sheet and cut it and placed the stars where i wanted them.....
i sat down....
she got the tattoo gun and started tattooing....
i sat there with my mate for and hour laughing at the "pain"
she cut me and i bled,
i was pissed off,
the tattoo was dodgy,
i went to see the big boss and he said he will fix it for free....
i still havnt gone back to get it fixed.....
i was going to get a full sleeve....
i drew it up and then i had cuts and mosquito bites on my arm....
so i decided to wait and not get that done......
and now i am just pissed off and not happy with this tattoo and want to get it fixed.....
but thats gonna cost me like $80 - $170 now because i think the place i got it done closed down.....
arrrggghhhh
i hate that tattoo artist LOL "artist?" more like ugly stupid cow who shall pay!.....
thats my story |

I wanted a tattoo for several years , but never did it , my husband didn`t like it very much .in the last years i been trough a lot of things, twins birth , I was huge when the twins got older , i lost 50 pounds, stopped smoking, en got a operation on my abdomen to get the muscles tighter. Now I`ve lost another 30 pounds en it was the time for a tattoo...
Looked around , find an artist , see him work and made an appointment.
Then came the DAY and i was all exited, he put the drawing on my left shoulder and starting to make MY tattoo. It didn`t hurt much, when he started a little , but when he got further,.. no pain
I think he did a great job , fine lines, he used the smallest needle, and i like it very much. I think there`s gonna be another one, sometime |

well my story is a little girly, so just a warning its a little crazy. . .
I have been a fan of Leonardo DiCaprio for 9 years, since I was 13 years old. So when I watched The Beach and it showed him getting a tattoo of a wild cat claw-scratch I was 16 and felt like I wanted one. So I started drawing up designs. . .
When I turned 18 I decided to get a small banner on my ankle, with 'Leo' written inside. The artists couldn't believe how silly it was, but eventually agreed to do it on me. November 2003.
I got my next one, a rat on my inside left arm because I had bred fancy rats for 7 years prior. Just showing my love for pet rats. April 2004.
And my 3rd is a tiny ferret paw print in pink on outside left arm after my ferret.
And next week I am getting one in memory of a deceased friend.
So they all mean something important to me, and I don't give a crap what anyone thinks about them. LOL!
I'll probably get 100 more throughout my time, but since I'm a lady I will have to stop myself, or someone will have to put a law out to prevent me from going to get tattooed.

I have one small shamrock on my left butt cheek; I got it in Fayetteville, AR, place called Wild Child; I was in my 30's. It was a nice large clean bright parlor, used to be be a big restaurant in a strip mall. At that time, tattoo parlors weren't regulated by the health dept. in my state, so I got one while I was on vacation there. I knew what I wanted, but all they had in the flash books were 4 leaf clovers. Suddenly a voice yelled from back in the work cubicles "I know what she wants! Let me finish this and I'll draw a picture!" And about 20 minutes later, out she came, the Wild Child, and drew the shamrock, and the fellow doing my tattoo led me back to his cubicle and dentist's chair He said okay, let's get started, so I turned around, leaned over the chair and pulled my pants down about to the bottom of my rear, and he let me lean there for a few minutes before he told me that he was getting his set-up ready, but he hated to stop me! It wasn't very painful, took about 40 minutes, and turned out nice. After I retire, I want to get another one that I can see without turning around to find it, just can't decide what to get next. |
