| I plan on getting a tattoo on my leg,but I have a problem.I know this my sound like a stupid question but does the tattoo artist have to shave your leg before the tattoo. This reason I ask this is because I have really sensitive legs and if I shave I get razor bumps all over my legs which is why I use depilatory creams. Is there a way I can talk to the tattoo artist first and see if they can leave the hair removal to me.Oh,ever since using depilatory creams the razor bumps have gotton alot better which is why I don't want them bring that razor anywhere near my leg. Thanks in advance, even though this was probably a really stupid question. |

use the depilatory cream the day before you go for your tattoo..
then he will tell you if he needs to shave you but i doubt it very much... |

As long as the area is as smooth as a baby's bum, the artist should have no problem with it.
Tell him, before hand & ensure that the area is completely hairless.
Even fine hairs can make tattooing a pain in the rear! |

well i was offended when mine shaved the arm hairs (fine hairs) on the top of my arm - i was like, what? now they are just growing back.
Next thing i know, he'll be shaving my back! when i get my shoulder blade done this week (hopefully not). |

| Hate to break it to you, but the only places without hair on the human body is the underside of your feet & the palms of your hands, so she/he may very well shave your back!!! |

great - though my other two didn't werent so that's why i was shocked.
I want to get my new one tomorrow but I don't know if the place is open at all on Mondays.
Is your tattoo place open on Mondays?
I'll check anyway. I have a funny feeling it opens Tuesdays onwards, and always at 11am. |

You need a smooth canvas, hair will make it harder for the tattooist...it drags...
i have ALWAYS shaved the area to be done... |

My wife got a tattoo done close to her ankle and the day before she had her legs and other parts waxed. But our tattooist still shaved her leg. So I dont know if this helps any but this is what happened all the best from the Tattman. |

i don't shave though, i use one of those epilators that pinch the hairs out. so i would have liked to be told beforehand, before he just started shaving my arm.
You never know whether someone has a reason why they wouldn't like you to have a razor blade near them, he should have asked but its my opinion. I don't like razor blades for a specific reason, which i can't really print but it has to do with someone I loved and their death.
Which brings it back to answering the question up top; some people don't like to be shaved, opr can't be. And if you didn't know you had to be (like me because it had'nt been done on my other occasions) then if somebody just starts shaving you without saying, their could be some problems |
