I have got tattoos on my back and some of them hurt while some were just like a cat tongue dragging over my back. I got a tat on my left chest and that hurt then I got one on my right chest and that didn't hurt much. I'm getting more work done on my back soon and expect it to be like the 1st time some parts will hurt and other not as much. I'm looking forwards to getting my next tat. Like I have said before I'm keeping my tats mainly containing to the Australian theme. But my back is for my family and thoughts to do with my family, not brothers and sister nor parents. And the rest is up to me and money. I know all tats hurt but with a little mind control we all can block out a little of the pain, but certainly not all of it (I think anyway).
Oh and a little ps: here on infections with tattooes. My wife followed the instructions to the letter as I did and she did with her first tat. And her 2nd tat got and infection. So I'm not sure weather we can lay blame one anyone. I think it has a lot to do with your skin just maybe your skin could be reacting to the ink. I'm no doc or anything like that so I'm just putting it out there. As I know both my wife and the studio where we get our tats done is clean enough to eat your tea from. All the best to one and all people with ink. The Tattman |

the pain is 15% physical and 85% mental. there is switch inside your body that you can control if you are in the right mindset. i really enjoy getting tattooed and cant wait for my next one. i am getting a big rib piece next month, people are telling me its going to kill, i think i will be fine. you just have to tell yourself that you wont die and think how cool it will look when its done.
sorry to hear your wifes tat got infected, that sucks. aftercare is a crucial step and sometimes even if you do everything right it can still get infected. hope it turned out well, have a good one

| Bill that's just so right that no matter what you do you just never know if you're the one to get a slight infection even if you have followed all the rules. And the pain part I bet you're right there to. But the rib cage area. We have watched Miami Ink and watch people grimise in pain in that area. So let hope it all goes well with your's. I'm getting more work done on my back Just writting and a little shading around the writting. That will be a small portion of my back done. Which is only for family things, like grandkids names and my thoughts of them. While the rest of my body is anything. |

i have heard mixed results from everyone about every other spot on the body, but everyone seems to agree that the ribs suck.
i plan on multiple two-three hour sessions, every two weeks, so that will be good. its weird though, i talk to lots of people and read stuff on the net and everyone's opinion is different. some say the shading hurts worse than the outline, some vice versa. some say it all hurts, some say they love it.
in the end, you just have to tell yourself that you wont die and suck it up. if you cant take the pain you don't deserve the glory of a truly beautiful piece of art on your body. |

| Chic I think that you are right about the time that we are in front but New Zealand is another hour and a half os so in front of us. As when Microst bought out a new something a kid in NZ was the first in the world to buy one. |
