Hi everyone,

I have never gotten a tattoo before. I know this is sort of a strange question, but is it possible to get a tattoo on the bottom of your foot? I know it is probably not the best or easiest thing to do, but I couldn't find much about it online. I understand that it may fade over time, about how long would this take? Would it fade away entirely? Will it be really hard to find a tattoo place willing to do this? I am looking to get a really discreet tattoo.

You know - I'd really rethink the bottom of the feet.

First - Of all the locations on your body, your feet have the most nerve endings. The pain would be spectacular.

Second - You also have to walk, and the thing you have to do with new tattoos is keep them from getting dirty and infected. So all the sweat, shoes, floors, shower floor - that's all going to increase your risk to infection substantially. Unless you're chair-bound, of course.

You could always do it under your arms, like along the side of your ribcage. So when you bring your arm(s) down it is hidden, and shirts, even tanks, would hide it as well.

i agree with ladysav, there are many other discrete places you could get done. risk of infection has to be way higher since you are always rubbing them and sweating when you walk. i wouldn't make pain a deciding factor in getting a tattoo or not, but it will need to be touched up way more frequently than in a regular place.

how about upper thigh or hip? even with shorts on no one would see it.

The sole of your foot is one of the most painful areas on your body, and ink usually gets expelled from there quicker...

I think in this particular case, as in the bottom of the feet, pain IS a factor - because it will be so much more amplified.

I was told that the bottom is a wee bit tender, as for the armpits ouch
