|
| A good frend of mine has a new girlfrend and she don't like tattoos? She never asked him to remove them (he have 2 tattoos) but she keep telling him she don't like them or even that tattoos are only for 'bad guys'... He is tinking to remove his tattoos to make her happy but he love them and is not sure what to do, this is why he asked me what to do. But this is personal and is not easy to give a good advice to someone... |

| I would say that since this is a new girlfriend I would wait it out and see how the relationship goes. Who knows they could break up tomorrow and then he would have gotten rid of the tats that he loves for no reason other than to please someone that he is no longer with. I think that people have to be willing to accept someone for who they are tats and all or things will never work. Caution your friend to really think about things before he acts. |

| I personally LOVE my tattoos, each of them means something to me, and if I was with a guy who said he didn't like then, then I'd tell him, in the nicest possible way, that they're part of me, and without them I wouldn't be the person your with now. |

does this guy, know it cost at least three times the price for removal than the tattoo in the first place.
if she dont like them, then she dont have to look at them.. |

every tattoo shop has a sign
'tattoos last longer than romances'
remove the girl not the tattoos.
simple.
she will be gone soon enough if she's already whinging.
good luck. |

It seems to me if you don't like the tattoos someone you're dating has (and has had since before you met said person), then that's your problem. *shrug*
A tattoo is part of your body. If we started lopping off parts of our body to please others, we'd be a pile of bloody remnants, don't you think? Lol |

She doesn't sound worth it. If she really cared about him she would just shut up and put up with them. And if there's a chance they won't be together forever then that's a waste of good ink.
If my boyfriend did that to me I'd ditch him but luckily for me he loves my two tats and my piercings. But if he really didn't like them but put up with them just for me then I'd be more likely to get rid of them. Not that i probably would anyway if that made any sense |

for 'bad guys'? what? in the 60's?
Well PLENTY of girls, including me love them. I'm 21 and a University Student majoring in Geography at UTAS (Tasmania), and I have 3, soon 4. So I'm gonna be a teacher AND have tattoos.
Theres no sense in what she thinks.
I would only date a guy who likes me for me. And loves my tatts, and loves my pet ferret (I LOVE FERRETS!!!). But then i prolly will only date a guy who has or will get a tattoo - none of my friends have or will get one and so it gets a little lonely. And if you like tatts you'll prolly get one. So if he is open minded about body mods i'll ask him to get one! |

| I think she should have thought about that before she got with you. Most people i know who get ink is to commemorate someone or something in their lives; they represent parts of us and life that needs to be remembered. I say find a girl who digs you for who you are. |

| I had a similar situation here. My girlfriend absolutely did not want me to tattoo my penis. Well long story short I have the same girl and have a set of red lips tattooed on the head. Her response after I did it was" Well, I love you so I guess I'll just have to live with it." Might want to pass along that removal isnt always 100%. Still have a great chance of severe scarring and odd colorations. Something to consider depending on the locations. Just my thoughts and experiance though. |

| when i first met my husband i didn't like one of the tattoos on his left arm (a chinese demon) and i wanted him to get something over it..... now atfter 3 1/2 years off marrige i don't mind it, i wont say i love it cos i don't but it is part of him therefor i deal with it. i would never ask someone to get rid of something they love just cos i don't like it. i don't like my husband rigding motorbikes but i would never make him get rid of it because he loves it. if she truly loves him she will ignore the tatts if not then she dosen't love him for who he is. |

| TATTOOS ARE LIKE DIAMONDS...FOREVER!!! What is the point of getting a tattoo if there is any possibility that you would want to remove it in the future. I can see if the tattoos were mangled or something but if it is just because a girl doesn't like them...that is ridiculous. My tattoos are my true colors and I wear them proudly. I could care less what others think, even the ones I love. If it is meant to be then she is going to take the whole package...tattoos and all! |

the biggest mistake I've made was to remove my piercings when my girlfriend ( now wife ) asked me to do it... BIG mistake.
when she said she also didn't like my tribal tattoo I just added a few more lines to it... |

I have an interesting situation that I would like to share and hear everyone's opinion...
My girlfriend of almost a year recently surprised me when she got a tattoo. She did not tell me she was getting it and just told me one day. I was shocked and actually was really mad that she would do that. I know its her body but I was mad she didn't tell me or asked me what I thought. I wasn't so upset by the tattoo but more she did it without telling me.
The tattoo was of a pair of wings which was taken from a ring we recently bought together so its symbolic in that way.
I got over the anger and disappointment of her not telling me but then when she showed me the tatoo I was upset all over again. She said it is small but when I saw it I thought it was quite big.
This tattoo has caused a lot of stress in our relationship over the last 2 days... i know ultimately its her body and she should have the right to do as she pleases and I should love her in any case.
However, I feel less attracted to her (physically and emotionally). I have always thought of her body to be perfect. And now I feel like that is ruined or taken away from me. I am hoping that its just because I have been shocked by this incident and will get over it and everything will be back to normal. We get along fabulously and this is really the first major 'disagreement' we had and I don't know why I am reacting this way. I feel terrible/shallow and truly believe/hope my feelings are a lot stronger than this to let something like this take it away.
I am not adverse to tatoos and don't judge ppl who have them but I guess its different when its on someone you love.
So can anyone tell me why I have such a reaction to it? Anyone else go through something similar?
Thanks. |

Hmmm girlfriend you say, perfect body has she, any chance of some pictures ?
It is only a picture if she hung new curtains in the bedroom would that cause two days of stress and concern ?
You sir need a long chat with yourself.
Alternatively i have just fallen for a well executed ploy by an established member of this site ? |

Sounds like "YOU'RE" having a reaction to "HER" ink. Get her to use another colour for the next one. (There will be more. One is never enough. ) |

I think i would be a little upset if my wife got one with out telling me but only cause i would not have been there for her , for advice , to check the artist etc etc ....and possibly laugh while she was in pain ...as she often has for me |

Wow this topic sure hit a nerve.
When you get a tattoo it becomes part of who you are.
If she doesnt like his tattoos then maybe shes just to immature to understand why someone would chose to mark their skin. If she doesnt like them, then in my opinion shes saying she doesnt like the guy (or that part of his personality).
Like adamo said 'tattoos last longer than romances'
I know this girl at my work who absolutely loved the tattoo i got covering my right arm (actually she was gushing a bit) and she told me she wanted to get a tattoo of her fiance's name (first and last) on the back of her neck. Yeah, i know - i couldnt believe she'd consider that.
Kids these days. |

At end of day its personality that counts in my eyes not looks, tattoos or piercings.
She knew he had them, if she don't like it show her he door, its that way somewhere.lol
I don't tell my husband when I'm having any new tattoos done. Its my body.
He knows I am very picky anyway with what designs I like. He married me for me not my artwork on my body. |

GREAT TOPIC...
I have a wife now for almost 2 years, loves my tattoos and recently because my heritage is German and I'm far from being a racist I tattooed a SWASTIKA on my foot. She wasn't thrilled with it at first but loves it now because she knows whats inside is what counts and nothing on the outsde. Some research on the meaning of the Swastika has made her realize that it's not for the skinhead. Like everyone else has said, GET RID OF HER! |

I am new, so please be kind. My wife and I have been married for 15 years and she was very negative on tats for the longest time. I told her, either help me pick a design we can both enjoy, or deal with it. I got her invovled in the decision process and now she loves them. She sees them as a "tribute" to our kids and the joy that they have brought to us (I know, sounds corny, but true). I say, if she cannot handle them, she needs to either deal with it or don't let the door hit her in the ass on the way out.
Just my two cents worth, and that's about all it is worth.

My wife is the total opposite , she pays for all my tats and does not care about what i get , the only thing she ever asked was that i dont get full sleeves , so i settled for half sleeves instead , i dont mind as i still have legs , back to do . |

| My wife finally saw the light. She even toyed with getting something done herself, but when I got the second one I thought she was going to pass out watching. That ended that, for now. Gotta say that I don't forsee a whole lot of tats on me. I have a job that unfortunately they frown on it. If I get too many I will have to start wearing long sleeves and I don't want to do that. I am going to get the other arm done eventually as well, but right now I am just happy with the couple I have. |
