| My name is Louis Moore am i am currently in Baghdad, Iraq. I have over 14 tattoos and have been drawing for years. I have always been interested in being a tattoo artist, but never took the time to get the equipment or learn. I met a guy a couple of weeks ago who does tattoos out here, and it got me itching to start inking. So i ordered a couple of kits. I receive my kit a few days ago and did my first tattoo on my roommate. I truly understand the process of an apprentice and realize that is the best way to go about learning to tattoo. i also know that tattoo artist that have been doing this for a while will look at me as one of the many scratches, but how many tattoo artist do you know that have actually had a apprintenship? I believe i can with time and the proper research and practice becomes an awesome tattoo artist. I am serious about becoming a well respected tattoo artist and am here to learn. |

Stick to your guns mate and keep your dream alive. If you fail at the first post get up dust yourself up and knock on the next door. I wish you all the success in finding what you want.
I can't draw for peanuts, but if I could I to would love to have a chance at what you want.
So don't give up. |

This is in no way an attack on you or anything as i am a beginner scratcher myself so please dont take this the wrong way but although you may be able to draw this doesnt mean you can automatically tattoo, You may have been lucky that the tattoo you've done on your room mate may have come out beautifully(I dont know as theres no image attatched to your post) but even as a scratcher it is adviseable to practice on something non human such as fruit or pig skin for many months before tattooing a human as there are issues regarding needle depth machine setup etc, I can draw pretty well myself but when i first picked up a tattoo machine it was a whole different ball game, I really do hope you do well in you endeavours to become a respected tattooist but your chances of this will be lowered dramtically if you dont have the knowledge and technique prior to putting needle to skin.
Read up on blood born viruses, infection, cross contamination and such. And research with every free bit of time you have.
I would never tattoo someone without atleast a year of practice and without as much information I can scrape together in that time.
Best of luck to you and I really do hope that it all works out well for you and that you keep yourself safe in Baghdad.
