i want to get a tattoo for my mom but i dont want the normal "mom"heart or just mom in script or her name etc. the story with my mom is she was doing drugs drinking and smoking all very heavily she was very unhealthy and accually flat lined during surgery and other times before but came back to life some how...now she has been clean of drugs for years,clean of liquor 4 almost 2 years and recently stopped smoking she is much healthy n lively and i wanted to get a tattoo to show my appreciation n thanks for what she did.i wanted a phoenix rising from fire or ash wit a a ribbon or scroll rapped around it going threw its mouths wing n talons that says mommy to commemorate her coming "back to life" and over coming all those things.i want it to be a half sleeve or quarter on my bicep in black and gray.alot of phoenix tattoos look very femine or like other birds (no offence to any one else wit 1)but i want mine very fierce and more "manly"....is this a good concept?i think its good and my mom thinks its veryy sweet lol but i jus wanted other in put on it.thanks

Congratulations on your mom's progress! That's very difficult to do and you are right to be proud of her.

I've always liked the ideas of "breaking free of the chains that bind" - whatever those chains were. Perhaps the phoenix could have a chain attached to it's leg with it breaking away?

yea i really like that idea...what i had in mind was arms coming up from the flames almost like demons or something pulling it down but i really like the idea of the chains..thanks mommabird
