Is there such thing as balancing a tattoo. For an example if i currently have a dragon tattoo can i do a tiger tattoo.

| I would say if you think that you need the tiger to balance the dragon then you do. But in the asian tattoo's I think that these two are what go together. So in that answer its a yes and if you like the look of a tiger and a lion to keep the balancwe then go for it. Just remember its your body you are putting it on and no one elses. So if its what you want to see then its all good. |

the idea of balancing tattoos, for whatever reason, is an interesting one. maybe you are seeing the tiger and the dragon as some kind of yin and yang - its a long time since i looked into asian symbolism so i'm not sure how that pans out. if its for aesthetic balancing i don't see any problem at all with it working out.
i think there is a long long history of people using tattoos to show the dualities of life and personality, from the classic 'love' and 'hate' across the knuckles to angels and demons and all sorts of more complex stuff.
i'm currently trying to settle a similar issue with my own plans. do i have one space/technology arm and one nature arm? or do i have one past arm and one future arm? or do i have one colour arm and one black/grey arm? whichever decision i go for there will have to be some level of compromise as regards symbolic or aesthetic balance. |
