|
|
So I did something semi-stupid the other day. It had exactly been 4 weeks since I got touch-ups on my tattoo (8 weeks since original date of tattoo) so it was pretty much healed up. This is my first tattoo. I was at my friend's house and we decided to go into the jacuzzi. I know this isn't a problem as most sites say avoid the water for 2-3 weeks. But, one thing I did forget to do was put sunscreen on the new tattoo. I was outside shirtless in the jacuzzi for 10-15 minutes before I realized I didn't put any sunblock on. It wasn't exactly a very sunny day, it was in fact overcast.
1) Is there any risk of damage to my new tattoo, or was I not under enough to damage it? (After 10-15 minutes, i put on SPF 50).
Also, the reason I got touch-ups is b/c it's an all black tattoo, and some parts seemed faded to me. When I got my touch-ups done, I gave 100% effort to take care of it and I did so every single day. Now, about a month after the touch-ups, the same parts as before seem faded. When I say faded, I see skin tone in some parts more than I do in other parts...little lines here and there.
2) I'm wondering, was my 10-15 minutes exposure under the sun enough to cause this fading, or should I chalk it up to the fact that my skin is simply not going to take the ink well in some parts than others? There's no way I could have taken better care of it than I did during the healing process.
Any answers are apprciated. Thanks. |

Hi Mate. The patchy areas you see havnt been filled properly if blotchy and uneven? I havnt read what is in sunblock cream, but surely it cannot be good for a fresh tattoo? I doubt 15 minutes of sun and water, could have done it damage.....But sunblock cream? |

| Well I wouldn't consider 4 weeks to be "a fresh tattoo" I was told you could put sunblock on tattoos after 3 weeks |

Go back to see your tattooist and have a word with him/her, they can even infill the bits they missed and give some advice on careing for your tattoos..
did you get a card when you had a tattoo to tell yu how to look after your new piece?
good luck |

Hey Chic....like I said, I took really good care of my tattoo. I did receive a card and I did everything it told me to do and applied lotion as much as I should've.
I guess my question is the following: I haven't really looked at many tattoos close up, when you have a black tattoo, is it supposed to be 100% perfect in the sense that the entire tattoo is perfect black, or will there always be some parts that are a little lighter, etc. They're only noticeable to me and no one else seems to notice it...but then again, I am picky and I'm also a perfectionist. |
