I was working in a shop on Coastal NC, now a computer nerd (pays better!) and happen to know of a certain person (I was there for ten years and was there during the surgery) name Jesse Michael Mays, owns Sleeping Dragon Tattoos seems to be trying to relocate here. Due to whatever reason (I thought he had his own shop) he seems to be looking for a place to work up here? Either way, I got the heads up from one of my old apprentices who passed this info to the people she knew he was trying to work for.

His EYES are SHOT and his work used to be some of the best in the world but he is no better than your standard Scratcher now. I will do everything I can to let ALL know that I know first hand that he has Macular Degeneration and it has been in full force for well over ten years now.

I have no doubt that his reputation is so shot there that is the reason he is trying to relocate.

I carry a lot of his OLD work, beautiful. The last two pieces are scars. I learned the hard way, as well as a lot of people who were faithful.

When you cannot give what you did before, you stop, you don't screw people over. I could deal with the dyslexia, him being a racist, misogynistic pig, NO problem (for that quality of work) but to lie, and say the operation worked? Do a quick search on Macular Degeneration. I did...AFTER I got scarred.

I welcome any contact or comments. I just want to spread the word about it to keep him out of this area because I see enough bad tattoos already, hehe. He needs to put down the guns

I edited my other posts, because it wasn't the person I first thought, but rather Jessie's ex-wife trying to cause him some bad press. I spoke with him and also looked at some of his work and there's nothing crappy about what this artist is doing.

I've directed him to this site and some others.

Thanks Jean for leaving this up here for him to look at. Very Happy

I'm not normally one to engage in something as petty as an arguement between ex-spouses, but this post made me so angry I just have to say something. I currently work for Jesse Mays at Sleeping Dragon Tattoo. He has no intention of moving ANYWHERE as his shop is doing quite well here in Wilmington NC. Jesse's reputation for portrait work is strong here in Wilmington. I can personally attest to his ability to give some of the best freehand work that the world has seen. I am carrying some of his recent work. I wish i could post a photo or two. He is FAR from being a common scratcher. Your old apprentice has her information WRONG. So when you lose your talent you should give it up? Is that why you don't pierce any more? I ask because I have seen some of your piercing work. Stick to the computers!

Julie & Gary,

Thank you for checking on this and getting us the correct information.

I don't care how mad a person is, this was just a low and trashy thing to do. I hope other forums that she's posted on have been able to discover the truth as well.

No, it is the truth. And you can 'tell him' all you want. Why? He tried to get my old apprentice to give him a position out there.
Why do I not work in that biz? Sorry, I like to have a regular paycheck and a kick assed health care in place. Oh, the 401 and stock bennies too. See, I have a college degree that I was not using (not a lot of need in 'that' biz) and can live in downtown LA in a high rise with an extrta place in Reno and Tacoma area. Either way, I STILL do work, only in guest spots Very Happy
Nice to have a weekend getaway now and then and get paid for it.
Truth hurts? Sorry, I was there and I DID stop letting him tattoo me for that reason. How about asking that old apprentice of mine, the one 'still full force' in the biz. Ask how much fixing is going on.
No, not bitter at all, I made out way better in the long run. Personally, I rather have a fondness for people and would not like to see them get screwed by past reputation. He should have let someone complete an apprenticeship and maybe it would be different, oh wait...they all run away before they finish. Hm.
Haha, I really don't care what you 'cut and paste'. Oh how very tech savvy of you. I would LOVE to see him try to take someone to court. "Well, Mr. Mays, DO you have Macular Degeneration?".

You cannot SUE someone for telling the truth. You can waste your time and be laughed at. Oh, there is also the factor that it is not looked kindly upon by taking and wasting the courts time. I do think that quantifies.

whatsthatbuttondo,

You didn't even have the guts to post who you were or any contact info in your first post slamming the guy. You didn't even mention that you're his ex who left him for some lesbian just shortly after he bought you a brand new set of tits. Laughing

If your message was meant as a warning to help others...... You would have left some means for others to contact you, but your message was just a personal attack on your former partner. That's all.

I think most anyone that reads your garbage posts will come to understand that you're a bottom feeder within the first sentance or two.

You're "sofa king we todd did".

That is all.
