I went to the city where our son now lives and we both got a tattoo that mean nothing to anyone apart from us.
Well the son has been to this tattooist a couple of other times. So he said he was really good. I took his word and why wouldn't I.
My son got his done first then it was time for me to get mine done. I sat there and it didn't hurt apart from both sides of my forearm but only one line on each. So it was really good experience.
Now this was now six days ago. And I have to say as the days go past the tattoo isn't feeling any better.
What he has done is overworked the skin and actually burnt it, well this is what it feels like, as I'm not a tattooist I don't know the right term for it. But I know it has been over worked, as I have got other tattoo's and never once had one hurting this long after it has been done. Maybe one or two days after is the most, but never this long.
And some of the line work he has done is not up to the standard that I have got on me at the moment so I'm rather unhappy with the work he has done.
And no I won't be going back to him, as its a 4 and a half hour drive there. And no I won't complain to him, as my son likes his work and has not stuffed up one of his.
I just thought this would let some of you know that it might be good for one but not good for the other.
And by the way, I think he put himself under pressure as he seen the work I have on me, and tried too hard to keep up the standard but failed badly.

Hiya. sounds like you may have the start of an infection? Or the solution he used on you for wiping excess ink etc, has affected your skin?
hard to tell without seeing it....I know damn well it still shouldn't be sore for that long. Not good.

I went to our usual tattoist and asked his advice and he said that its infected and I should go to the doctor's for a antibiotic. So I done what he told me.
But this will now make me more unwilling to go somewhere else to get my tats done. But it was for mine and my sons birthday and we were where he lives now. So thats the reason why I got it done somewhere else.
And thanks so much for your reply Bren.
I have to say that what he did to me is the exact same thing he done to my son. And I think that you have to get one every now and then that gives you a little trouble.
I told my son to say nothing as he is getting a good name with them and I don't want him ruining it. So I will never say where I go it done either.
I did have a good time getting it done to, so as the saying goes. ***** happens.

Hope it heals up ok for you anyway Wink That artist obviously has a X-contamination issue? Giving people a deathwish.
Personally i think the general public or health department in the area need to be informed of his careless ways. You will not be the only client by the sounds.
Next time you visit an artist, now you are weary! Ask them to show you their sterilisation procedure. Should be NEW NEEDLES every client. Look for bagging of machines, clip cord sleeves. ultrasonic cleaners, no re-used ink caps etc.. If they make excuses and won't show you. WALK!! Laughing

Bren thanks for all your helpful advice and I have listened to what you have to say.
I future I will if I get another tattoo outside of our usual Tattooist, which I know he is so clean and does it all by the book. I will apply what you have told me.
Just to let you know its healing now so the antibiotics have worked and its getting itchy, a good sign thats its healing.
And I still think he actually overworked it to as I have had cuts that have done exactlly what this is doing in healing.
Thanks again mate.
If I'm ever over your way and you are tattooing I will come to see you.
