So, I've never really been into tattoos until recently. I never liked to idea of picking out a tattoo while somebody down the street could very well have the same thing as you. If I ever got one I wanted it to be original and personal, but I never really found any inspiration.
But I had an epiphany the other night. I was falling asleep listening to a song by one of my favorite bands and a string of lyrics really stuck with me. For whatever reason, those lyrics inspired me to get a tattoo. I know exactly what I want and I can see it in my head, my only problem is I can't draw to save my life.
I know in shows like Miami Ink, if you bring them an idea they'll draw it for you and ink you up, but I live in Philly about a thousand miles north of south beach. Is this a common thing though? In other words, could I find a tattoo artist that would take my idea draw it for me and then if I like it give me a tattoo of it?
I have this idea and I want to get it done before I start school in the fall but I know nothing about tattoos or where to go to get this done. Can anybody help me please!!! |

Hello soulwax!
Not only is it common - it's always my recommendation. I always have my artist draw it up after explaining and sometimes bringing in sketches of the general idea. First and foremost find a good artist with a profile of tattoos with the quality and style you like.
Some artists will charge you a deposit for their time, especially if it's your first tattoo and they aren't sure you will come back and get the work. You'll just have to talk to your artist and see what their policies are.
Good luck! |
