First, I want to say I am glad to be here posting for the 1st time and I am glad to finally have found an online tat community. Ok, heres my question......I have many tattoos mostly color, but the past few tats, I decided to go with some black and gray work. The problem is this......I have 3 seperate pieces by 3 seperate artists, and for some reason the black ink wont get black enough! In fact, I have been working on this half sleeve.......I had to go back 3 times for the artist to touch the darn thing up......Just 3 months after I got the tat, strangers would comment on it saying it looked like a 10yr old tattoo.......I seen the bottle of ink myself and it was super black ( not a wash ). And still after 3 trips, the ink doesnt seem to wanna be dark enough.......I considered that maybe it was his ink, but even my past 2 pieces ( both diff ink ) arent as dark as I want them to be..............And the kicker is that I am pretty white so these should be poppin out a little bit more lol So with all that said, do you think some peoples skin might just reject black ink or do you think I have just had crap luck with the artists? Oh yeah I would be glad to share pics

My tattooist has told me stories about some people just not taking the ink in at all. Some people just have funny skin Razz hehe

I really dont know enough yet about it,but i guess some peoples skin may have a kind of resilliance to ink? I cant understand if the colour goes in but the black doesnt? Possibly because you need to work colour more for it to go in??

The only thing id really suggest is not to drink few days before you get inked.Booze thins your blood, therefore if you bleed a lot ink has trouble staying in the skin.

Dont quote me on any of this.Im just a mere novice trying to work my way up.But i thought id try and tell you what i think Smile

Ya know, I have heard the same thing just recently. Im not much on drinking, but I guess I do take Aspirin a lot which also thins the blood....hmmmm That is actually a great point........I guess the only thing to do is not take the Aspirin like a week before my tats and see how it goes.......Im actually going back to get my chest piece worked on which is black and gray so I will see what happens.......Thanks for the help Smile

its right some inks do not work well on some skins likes of reds and yellows on some people and black ink can be just the same we all have diferent skin types never two the same a bit like finger prints some black ink can go to a bluey color or evan a dark green i think if yours is going grey your skin is bleeding a lot when being tattooed ive found that the case many time if the black goes grey its mostly because the person has bled a lot if some one has had a drink they bleed alot thats why most tattooist will not tattoo some one who has had a few drinks but if you havent had a drink before your tattoo it could be your just one of those people who bleed a lot and theres no amount of tattooing going to make that ink black
