Why would you like to remove your tattoo. I only have one and I would never ever think of getting it removed. I just wonder what are the most common reasons that people would like to get one removed?

It could be because one want to get a different tattoo or just becase he/she don't like it anymore.

There have been times where people would have their ex-spouse's names or ex gf/bf's names and would require it to be removed. My friendhad this dilemma and she tattooed a "VOID" stamp across the name!

The most common reason for anyone to remove the tattoo would be getting bored of it and wanting something else. Other reason would be some medical reasons like allergy or anything.

I like what your friend did with her tattoo and the "void" stamp. I think that is a really cool idea. Where did she come up with that at?

That is a great idea! I never would have thought of doing that. I bet that it was a lot cheaper and less painful than getting the original tattoo removed.

A friend of mine said her reason for wanting to remove her tattoo is because she has grown out of it meaning that she is at a stage in her life where a tattoo is not important to her and she is not the same person she was when she got the tattoo...I on the other hand would not remove my tattoo any time soon but I am just worried about how it will look once I am old and wrinkled...lol Confused

I have a friend that would like to remove his tattoo because he was young and stupid when he got it and now it embarasses him to have these marks on his body. He got a tattoo of a Nazi symbol back when he thought he was a cool skinhead now that he has grown up her realizes that is not the person that he wants to be.

You should do when you're picking your tattoo design. The cautionary and parting words in this chapter are the list of don'ts.

+ Don't limit yourself—not in the beginning anyway. Later, when you're running out of skin, limit yourself. In this phase of getting a tattoo, however, he it your first or your fifth, let your mind wander and ponder every possibility that presents itself before narrowing your choices.

+ Don't let somebody else pick your design. Let your next truck, wedding dress, or cell phone be a group choice, but not your tattoo. There's only one person that it has to satisfy. To be a good design choice, it has to satisfy that person. This isn't to say you won't talk to people about it and hear their input and their opinions, but you are in control—unless of course you're one of those actors in The Lord of the Rings who all got the same tattoo, or your fraternity demands it, or your combat unit is shipping out tomorrow and they bully you into it. Then it's OK.

+ Don't let the tattoo artist pick it. That's just weak.

+ Don't pick a design that you don't understand—really understand, including runes or kanji or Sanskrit. Do your research instead of letting something get lost in translation.

+ Don't get your significant other's name. Pay for a billboard on Valentine's Day, have your marriage proposal done on the side of a blimp, bring him or her breakfast in bed every day for ten years but never have your boyfriend's, girlfriend's, or spouse's name tattooed. It is the number one reason why people regret their tattoo later.

+ Don't do it to please somebody else—not even a hot-looking tattooist.

One of the most common tattoos is Someone elses name, and the second most common would be something to cover someone elses name. Laughing

The reason I could think of for removing a tattoo is bad work. If the artist checked out alright and their work seemed fine on paper so being a stupid 17yr old you went and got something important to you done, and they completely bodged it with uneven lines and just uneven work which is a simple enough design made up of STRAIGHT lines lol.

Mine is the flag of my birth country , South Africa , if you google this you will see its all straight lines. However if you look at one of my other posts giving a link to it - even though the pic could be better for this purpose buy my camera is out of use - you can sorta see the wonky work.

I thought about removing it as a last resort , i also thought about tattooing something over it - but getting a much better artist... But then i found a place that seems to do decent work from what ive seen myself from photos ( but still ill scope him out more and see his work on an actual person first ) and he says he can fix it so im going to go with that.

Top reasons ive gotten from friends in the past and other sources for removing a tattoo :
- It contained an old lover/friends name
- Outgrew it
- Were drunk when getting it
- Spur of the moment
- Bodged work

Or cus he or she didn't like it in the first place when it was done, they can look different on like clothes, or people change and don't like it 10 years later, it might be in a place thats is effecting them getting a job. Lots and lots of reasons. I want mine removed to look good in dresses, especially my wedding dress. du
