A tiny bit of tribal on my shoulder its still there.
Quite funny in a way being joung i had decided to have a scorpion because it was cheap (£20) about five minutes before i was due to be tattoed the girl saw the tribal peice and said something like thats nicer and cheaper (£15) so we can have a beer afterwards.
So there you go. |

I got a small ying yang on my shoulder area. (love small ying yangs)
It never hurt at all, it was just like a slight sharp end scratching my skin which was nothing. I went in surprisingly un nervous, but if you really want one, no matter what the pain, its definitely worth it!
Probably wouldnt hurt much anyway on a fleshier area. |

When I was 18, I got a skull on my shoulder...pretty typical flash. At any rate, I thought I was bad ass. It's since been covered with a chrysanthemum and wind bars. A much better tattoo, I think.

an image of the pioneer 10 space probe superimposed on a pulsar map of the galaxy - its a long story - on the inside of my right bicep. it hurt a little towards the end of the sesh but nothing bad.
i just had it retouched actually, so i will finally get a good picture of it alongside the rubbish ones already in my profile. |

| My first was a Tazmanian Devil cartoon character on my upper thigh. It was sort of a spur of the moment thing. I was 18 and loved Taz anything at the time. I chose my thigh so it was easy to hide if I wanted to. I think I might cover it up eventually with a Koi fish. I think the colors are similar so it will be fairly easy. |

| I actually got my first tattoo this summer in August. I was searching for something cool, and something that i would find meaningful. I decided on stars, I actually have 5 starting from my left shoulder blade, curving down to my ribs. I was pretty nervous at just finding something to get tattooed but after that it was pretty easy. Funny thing was that my mom wasnt for it, but she actually went with me to make the appointment for the tattoo. I wasnt really scared about the pain, i was actually excited and was wondering what it felt like. yeh it hurt a little bit, like someone running their fingernail down your skin, but nothing unbearable. I think i would get another tatoo, but i kinda ran out of spots to put it, hahaha, i have a bunch of ideas though. |

i got my first back in nov (hoping to get my second in feb)
its a cat of nine tails with the word bitch under it and its on my bum.
it didnt hurt, scratched a bit.
was a strange feeling as my left leg got cramp and my bum then went numb.
also had the added bonus of the window cleaner looking in at the end of it.
hoping my next piece will either be a whip round my left ankle ending on the top oof my foot, and then my 3rd will be on my lower back and will be a tigers face with celtic band either side.
id also like 3 small rose buds somewhere on my body to represent my children. but its finding a place for them. |

My first tattoo was a good learning experience if nothing else:
I stopped at the shop while out of town on a spur of the moment decision. Looked through the flash at the shop and settled on a parrot that was not at all like I originally wanted, and not the size I originally wanted. Waited for the "next" artist - didn't research and knew nothing about the artist. He slapped it on in about 30 minutes (should been an hour tat at the least).
It came out looking like crap. It was worse than the flash (which was pretty bad to begin with), colors were wrong, looked like a stuffed parrot with a stick up his a$$. I was intimidated by the guy and paid and left.
I regretted it for about 10 years until I started to learn more about tattoos and decided to do a coverup. Now I have a couple and believe me I learned to really think about the design, and really research who I want to do it. |

You know mommabird,
At first I was thinking... oh thats funny... talking about your description of the parrot. But it really isn't and it happens way to often.
Important to all is first that spur of the moment tattoo.
I don't like it when people make those decisions about getting ink... but even if you do then always ask to see the artists work before you sit in the chair.
Some people will tell you... ask howlong they have been tattooing and if its less than 5 years don't do it. I say BULLs%$t. There are some great artists that are out there with less experience as they are how should I say "naturals". BUT... if you look at their work and you see crap the GET BACK UP and go to someone else. Attitude is so important too. I know an artist that actually told me that if a customer trys to give hime a hard time about the price he will lower it and give him a quick piece of crap. Real classy huh.
If some one does not like my price I tell them well thats the price try someone else.
What I am getting at is when you get a tattoo take in EVERYTHING about the event. Studio looks, artists attitude, previous work etc etc.
You are spending a lot of money and your health is at risk, and who wants to spend MORE money to cover it up later.
So good points you make in your message. |

Hello...newby here...
I had my first tattoo today. I was really nervous but found that once he started, everytime he took the needle away, I went really shakey. I loved the feeling of the needle. It was really good. My friend came with me and helped me through it, the bit by the bone was the worst, but it's really nice. Only a bit sore now. My tattoo is called a 'hidden pentacle'. Will post a pic soon!
Im loving it and planning on my others very very soon

I remember my first tatt as if it were yesterday. I was 16... far under the legal age in Texas. I had a friend that was an apprentice and he convinced his boss to let me have my first tatt. I chose a tiny butterfly to be placed only millimeters from my pubic hair (so my mom wouldn't find it by accident).
i didn't know the artist that did it but he had a field day making fun of me. I remember I had my pants down and my panties pushed down as far as my own humility would allow. I was showered by comments like "mmmm I bet i'm the first man to get this far" or "mmmm smells good from here you sure you don't want me to do this further down?"
I was so red that you could have taken me for a lobster girl. But I just sat there trying to keep my composure as best I could. When he was done I pulled up my pants and rushed out and never went back. When my friend asked why I hadn't been by the parlor I just said I was grounded.
Ha ha ha! Today it's a great story and I laught everytime I think of it.

| I got two: the symbol Seika in kanji (written japanese) it means sacred fire... I am very unhappy with them; had them two years and they are still scarred from a guy who worked at Art By Gene in Bellefontaine, his name is steve and he was just an apprentice at the time and if I was told (which I wasn't he was left alone by himself) then I would have NOT gone there. |
