Hi there,
I had a lot of tats on my arms between 19 and 15 years ago and have wanted to get them reworked/covered for a long time.
Luckily I have found a decent artist by pure chance and we got started on some work last week.
So far, I have most of a "tribal" (for want of a better word) blackwork sleeve on my right arm which I'm very happy with, it also covered up two old pieces that I'd been unhappy with for years.

Whilst I love the blackwork, and will add to it, I've always been impressed by Japanese style sleeves and would like to go with that style for my left arm, with large bold work and lots of bright green and red.

I was wondering if anyone else had mixed such very different styles, and how it turned out for them? I've seen all sorts of things mixed up together, but I'm talking about each arm being completely different.

as long as the art flows smooth and the work is good i think it would be cool. Very Happy

thanks, I'm not overly keen on animals or "things", I'm wondering whether just artwork will be sufficient for a whole sleeve..

Bluesman its your body its your skin,if mixing styles is ok with you dont worry about anything else .i know when you have to have coverups it limits your choice but if you want japanese or tribal or old school all over you then i say go for it ,just have what pleases you mate. theres no rules that i know of which state though shall only have one theme Smile

thanks for the confirmation

I've always wanted both , if I'd had all blackwork, I'd forever be wistfully thinking about Japanese, and vice-versa.

at least I've got the chance to make the decision now. I'll have two very different looking sleeves.

We don't have much control over our bodies, but we do get to choose what art we want on our skins.

there's a bad pic of my right arm up.

might be a few weeks/months until the left arm is anywhere near finished, but I'll definitely put up some pics as we go.

my aim is to be complete by spring, so I can wear a t-shirt in the summer with pride, and without people asking "what's that tattoo?" Laughing
