am despratly trying to start a conversation so....underage KIDS getting tattoos....what do we think?
i think obiously its stupid...they are going to grow and its going to look sh*te by the time they're old enough to get one....i supose if your 17 and afew weeks off or something that wouldnt matter, but be patient.
why is it that people are in such a hurry to do everything.
i refused to drink in pubs underage as i wanted to have things to look forward too....same with tattoos.

I agree with you some but not totally. I think that it depends on the individual, maturity level, and the place on the body that they want to get the tattoo. Of course a 14 or 15 year old shouldn't get a tattoo on the upper part of their arm or something because it is going to grow and stretch. However if they are mature enough to understand that the tattoo is forever and they get it in a place that won't change terribly. I got my first tattoo at the age of 16, and I put it on the top of my foot because it was an easy place to cover if needed and that was an area that I thought wouldn't change or grow much more over time.
I hope that made some sense.

yes i supose i see you point there abit, but MOST 16 year olds are just finding themsleves and arnt mature enough to get a tattoo IMHO.
ive noticed myself mature in the last 2 years or so, when i was younger i was a total pot head and a complete idiot, taking extacsy at 14 and speed ect on the verge of being alcoholic by the time i was 17....18 i wasnt much better.
im only 19 now but i feel like an adult(well i am but you know i feel mature now) and have got myself off drugs, quit smoke ciggys and hardly drink now maybe once a week.
also in complete contrast to what i was like when i was younger id like to get a job in the police force or as a prison warden....i can see the stupidity of drugs and drinking too much, as well as at the time i was fun but im glad im out of that now
sorry about the rant there i just go off on one about carp sometimes
so i am very glad that i look so young i would never have been able to blag getting a tattoo underage
otherwise i feel i would have alot of regets now about what i would have chosen......
p.s a reconise your avatar do you use any other tattoo forums? |

well like he said before, i think it depends on the individual. and not neccessarily even their maturity level. just the tattoo. because i admit that, as a 16 year old girl, i am not the most mature person on the face of the planet, but i also know that if you ar getting a tattoo that is important to you, and will always be important to you, then age doesn't matter. for example if you are getting a boyfriend's initals on you, you may in the future regret that. but if you are getting something extremely meaningful in memory of a dead relative or something... that's different to me.
and what other tattoo forum are you guys talking about bbecause i realize that this one is a LittLE tEENSiE Bit slow lol |

i dont have underage tattoos so i dont really know but....
some people do tattoos at home, i think they get called 'scratchers' they
do a sh*tty job and dont do it in clean places like kitchens at home and stuff...re-use needles....
i dont know of any REAL tattooist who would tattoo someone without asking for id.....so i assume these are the kind of places underage kids go....dodgey underground places..... |

Yep I am a member of several other tattoo boards, and its nice to see this one picking up a little!!!
As for where I got my first tattoo, I had my parents sign for me at a regular shop. I had to get the form notorized and everything, so no scratchers here. |
