If the fair process of the law has been carried out and the country has the death penalty then crack on.
The only bit that I dont really agree with is the amount of time prisoners spend on death row waiting to die, I think that is a bit cruel.
So should the UK have the death penalty and for what crimes ? |

| I know this is an old subject but I have to put my two cents in on this one. I totally agree with the death penalty, especially with crimes involving children as the victim. We just had a man put to death last night in south Alabama for a murder he committed 18 years ago. The only thing cruel about having to wait on death row that long is that the victim's family has to endure appeal after appeal trial which means they must relive their relatives death over and again. I think if you are found guilty by dna evidence then death should be immediate. Having said that though, there are cases where even dna evidence put the wrong person behind bars. |

I disagree with the death penalty in every concievable situation. It is barbaric and exists only to pander to some of our most primitive emotions. Paedophiles and murderers show that they cannot overcome their primitive emotions when they commit their crimes, and I dont see why we should justify their actions by letting our base instincts take over our reactions. Lock them up, throw the way the key, and make life mean life for these psychos. Stooping to their level is counter productive. And that's my several cents |

| Yeah i agree there should be some sort of death penalty , but it needs to be quick , if you are 100% guilty then you go from the court to your death , simple , that way the greiving family gets some sort of closure and the tax payers don't have to pay to keep the scum alive ............... |

Great idea and i fully agree in principle, however what defines 100% guilty is it an admission, is it DNA evidence, is it strong witness evidence ?
Sadly i doubt that we will ever be able to declare 100% guilt proven as history has proven, how many people have served lengthy jail terms only to be proved innocent at a later date ?
Rowdy sorry mate i disagree the worse we treat the Iraq poulation the worse we will recieve in return. Saddam is a martyr to a huge number of Iraqis there was a backlash agaisnt us killing him in a way that they percieve as civilised if we had tortuered him with the old car battery and crocodile clip routine it would have been 100 times worse. |

I'm 100% for the death penalty for the same reason most of you are. I'm also tired of paying taxes for people like Charles Manson to live.
I'm old school. An eye for an eye. You hit me, I'm going to hit you back twice as hard. |
