i wanted to get something to comemorate my brother (becase he died) but i don't just want "r.i.p" you know? i want a picture or something, but i dont know of what. suggestions? (okay but nothing like a grave or anything.. i want something to commemorate him, not reiterate the fact that he's dead)

well i saw an episode on INKED where daren brass's friend died and another friend got a tat of the belated friends love of skateboarding inked on his ribs. you do something like that.

Definatle go with an image that reminds you of him. I have a tattoo that represents my grandmother, its the one in my avitar. Its a lotus flower, her name was lois but the family always called her lotus. so now everytime I look at it I think of her, but no one else has to know unless I tell them. So definately think of something that reminds you of him.

anybody else? and also how can you tell a really shitty tattoo artist BEFORE they ink up your skin? cause if my tat comes out looking like lionel richie on all fours i think ima have an aneurysm Shocked

umm.. i donno but you never saw diego rivera painting frida kahlo's on buildings and telling people to guess what they mean lol i don't think i would put something on display to be kept secret from the world..

diego rivera was a realistic mexican artist who painted on the side of buildings.. the reason for this was that in a public place such as that many people would be able to see the paintings and take something away from it. frida kahlo was his wife (which is more coincidental than anything; it's kind of irrelavent right now), and she was way more abstract than he and therefore would not gain anything from painting on the side of buildings since it would take many people a while to understand what she meant and most would probably have simply given up.. anyways.. my point is that something that is put on public display should not, in my opinion of course, be some secret.. or it should not be put on display at all.. anyways thats what i (A SHE) was talking about Very Happy

Shop around!! Go and look through artist portfolios and watch them work. If you know anybody that has been tattooed by that person ask them about their experience with that artist and the shop. Just make sure that you are comfortable with the artist before you sit in their chair!!

i like the lion idea!
instead of 'r.i.p' though how about your brothers name under the lion, or perhaps even in the design some where....????
people will ofcourse not necessarily know its in memory of your brother but im sure they will ask and you can tell them.... Smile

or maybe a little more than just his name, perhaps afew words you'd like to say to him given the chance like, 'for my brother _____ ill never forget you' or words to that effect which mean something to you.
