I had a number 3 tattooed on my hand about 5 weeks ago, and I have some serious smudging around it. There's too much of it to incorporate it into the design. My question is: will the smudging fade in time? If so, does anyone have any idea how long it will take? Thanks!

| That or he tried shadowing it and failed. Can you put a link to a pic of it? |

I Think it doesn't get any better with time. You should find out how the artist fix it with ink.
Sorry to here that. |

Thanks, everyone, for answering my post. I went to see the artist today. She and the other 4 artists at the studio said they had never seen a tattoo "bleed" like mine. The only explanation they could come up with is that my skin is older (I'm 65!) and therefore thinner and so the ink just drifted away from the tat. It's not blow out - it covers a much larger area than that. It looks like a bruise about 1/2" by 1/4". She asked me to come back in a couple weeks and in the meantime she'll research the problem to see what if anything can be done about it.

i mean this in no derogatory way but it may be that due to the thickness of the skin when stretched out during the tattoo process the needle entered the fatty tissue beneath the surface of the skin which causes the ink to bleed into the fatty tissue creating a smudged look, but if the tattooist you saw was a professional they should have been able to compensate for this I would assume as not every skin type is the same and there will be differnces between younger and older skin.
It will probably be very difficult to fix as once in the fatty tissue there may not be much that can be done to compensate apart from a cover up or working another image into the surrounding area where it occured (if possible).
I hope they are able to fix it for you but sadly I doubt it. |

remember tattoos do fade quicker on different places.its a very precise job so little smudging does happen . |
