"I Finally Did It"... Long before I got my tattoo, I had a preconceived notion about tattoo's & body piercing's...One opinion about guys and another about women. With women, the younger the girl, the more erotic the piercing...surely, the lower the morals and self-respect the person had. With guys...they must have some radical statement to make. My thoughts and feelings were not quite as extreme as this; but, it did vary a lot from my long held belief of "to each their own. Tattoos on the other hand, held an appreciation in my eye for most of my life. I have been an artist all of my adult life and I even respect the artist who sees fit to make his one mark on a canvas the size of a house. What changed my view and altered my opinion for the rest of my life, was a Young Woman whom I have known since she was a young girl. The only change in the persona of this person, a sweet, caring, giving, sensitive girl; was in fact, she matured into a woman. A woman which has modified the appearance of her skin over the past years, to adorn her body with piercing's and tattoos. She enlightened me. She had me look at my preconceived thoughts in regard to piercing's and tattoos. What had changed in her was no more altering than when she bought a scarf or put on a hair barrette. "L" gave me the insight to realize a piercing was visually, not much more than a scraping away of a layer of skin to reveal an inner hidden message...not, adding anything. It was a Spiritual awakening for me. A fulfillment, an unwrapping of a gift to myself. My friend gave me that nudge to continue a renaissance that has continued, throughout my life. She taught me, an art teacher...how to see. My first tattoo was applied on 31 December 2006. It was one of the most exciting events of my life. Thank you "L"

Welcome to the forum, amerind1 Very Happy

Very nice story. I wish more people without tattoos could have that experience. It seems that I come into people that are very prejudiced against tattoos - especially women with them. I'm in my 40's and it's mostly from my peers and older people. My daughter on the other hand just turned 18 and got her first tattoo last week with me (I was finishing up one). All her friends think it's very cool and it seems to be more the "norm" than not. Guess attitudes are changing, slower than I'd like, but they are changing Wink

Thanks for sharing!

Damn impressive story for sure and yes the tattoos are art and nothing more if anything they enhance the body to me anyway all the pieces I have done were either designed by myself or my tattoo artist that does all my work. To me I am a walking piece of our artwork and very proud of it.

Very Happy
