About 5 months ago I got a tattoo on my bicep that I think is awesome.
Then, about 1 month ago, I got some more tattoo work done around the original tattoo. Basically, I wanted a 1/4 arm sleeve that incorporated my original tattoo. Problem is I don't like it. I just don't think it's very well done.

For the past month, I've been looking into removal methods and I've come to the conclusion that laser removal is the only way to go. So, my question is; with laser removal surgery, can I get part of my sleeve removed and keep the part I like?

Let me start by saying I personally have never had any laser removal done.

If I understand it correctly, the laser is directed at a very specific area and each little spot much be targeted by the laser. Therefore, my answer would be yes, you could target some areas and leave others.

I would also say that I don't know if it affects "surrounding" areas or not, so I'm not sure if you went right up next to the part you want to keep if it would affect it or not around the edges. I would think that if it did affect the part you want to keep, you could probably get it touched up, though.

Maybe others will have some experience in this area?

hey, here's an update for anyone curious...

I've gone through two sessions of removal and let me tell you...it ******* SUCKS.

The actual process isn't that bad because they can numb the area pretty well to the point where you don't actually feel anything. But, for the next week, it's pretty terrible.

So, yes it's pretty painful and pretty expensive. But, honestly, I'll do anything to get this awfulness off my arm.

As someone who does laser tattoo removal and someone who's had a tattoo put on and removed, I can tell you that the laser is pretty accurate. The spot size can very from 2 to 8 millimeters, so as long as you have a centimeter or so give or take, you can comfortably proceed. We've worked on a lot of tattoo artists who have sleeves with the exact predicament you describe. I'd also say that it doesn't hurt as much as I thought it would. I put on the numbing cream half and hour before hand and used the cold air blower during the procedure. It did smart but about the same as getting the tattoo. When I was done it was still aching but the aftercare lotion took it away instantly.
