I somewhat asked this in another thread but want to expand on it a little bit...
I want to get a pet to keep in my shop (not my tattoo shop) its going to be a speciality "goth" shop...like a botanical, occult shop.... I wish to open soon...
Anyways I was thinking about a lizard or possibly a parrot or something like that...
Basically Im looking for any suggestions. And an answer to a few questions with the suggestions. Would it be able to be alone over night? Is getting it now and raising it then leaving it alone over night a good idea? Things like that. Any help is much appreciated. |

i personally would go with a lizard simply because parrots (large ones) need alot of attention and tend to get more attatched to one person..although they will tolerate other people. smaller parrots such as conures can be alot of fun but still need a good amout of attention and lots of toys. a cockatoo might be good if you get a female (females are quieter and more self sufficient) they LOVE attention and are usually friendly and loving with everyone they come into contact with, that being said they need more attention than any other parrot.
lizards can be great for it though. they are quiet and always attractive even to those that don't like them. they don't need quite so much attention depending on the lizard you get, i know you mentioned bearded dragons before and those would be best for it. they enjoy being handled and pet but they will not get depressed and abuse themselves if you ignore them.
not to mention the major price difference...a small parrot, cage and accesories will likely be upwards or $900. large parrots, cockatoos and macaws, run about $1600...just for the bird. where as bearded dragons with cage, lighting and accesories might be $150-$200, depending on the dragon and how elaborate the cage is.
as for leaving them over night, both should be fine over night as both of them are diurnal and sleep during the night hours so that shouldn't even be a problem.
i hope this was helpful |
