hey, im about to get a tattoo for the first time. ive done all the research and everything and i know all of the health risks. the guy thats gonna tattoo me works in a professional tattoo shop, but is gonna do my tattoo out of his home. he says he uses disposable tubes and needles, and he opens them up in front of his client. also he said he follows universal precautions for cross contamination. and that this is the safest way to tattoo. is this correct?.. is there any chance of catchinh a disease if the tubes and needles are only used once. please respond asap. im getting it tomorow.

its a debate on the the wither disposable tubes and pre-steralized needles are really sterile or not and you can never be sure yourself even if there opened in front of you the only way to be for sure that tubes and needles are sterile is have him put them in a autoclave and and ask for proof of his spore test on the autoclave. if he works in a shop then why not do it there in the first place but still ask to see spore test report on the autoclave they use. not that tattooing out of your house is a bad thing cause i do but if he is working out of his house and your comfortable with that then make sure its a room used for tattooing only make sure there is vynle flooring or the like in that area ask questions about how he sterilizes his area ask any question you can think of dont dive right into something you may regret ask to see pictures of past work take a tour of where ever he is working shop or house a tattooist that has nothing to hide and practices universal percations and has been trained on things such as cc and bbp shouldnt have a problem with any of these request and if he does then i wouldnt risk it imo

thanks. the reason he cant do it in his shop is because his shop is inn nyc, ands its illegal to tattoo someone under 18 there... his home is on new jersey, where tattooing someone under 16 is legal.. so basically, if there is no autoclave, there is still a risk?

For sures. If you really want the tattoo. Wait until you are of legal age and go get it done by a pro, in a proper studio. They should be more than happy to run you through their hygiene procedure.
Wont have to worry then chap. Wink
