Ello, me names Emma. I’m doing a research paper on the career that I’m going to be pursuing after graduation(speaking of which this paper is vital to my graduation so your help will be much appreciated) I have typed out some basic question that would be lovely if a professional tattoo artist answered.
1.)Your name, age, profession, and how long you’ve been in the business?
2.)How long was your apprenticeship? Or are you self taught (then how long was it till you felt confident to tattoo others?)
3.)How important are people skills in this job?
4.)On a scale of 1 to 10 how important is knowing the history of this profession?
5.)What are the typical hours for a tattoo artist at the shop?
6.)Do tattoo artist usually have second jobs?
7.)What medical courses do you have to take before beginning an apprenticeship?
8.)What’s the typical apprentice form (application) look like?
9.)What would you guess to be the average length of a decent apprenticeship?
10.)Again, your guess on the average cost? & Are there alternatives to paying for an apprenticeship?
11.)Do you think a graphic design college course will help anyone walking into this?
12.)How much does the average tattoo artist make?(price of the average tattoo??)
13.)Your option on this “tattoo school”? link:
14.)Why do some people try claiming that most tattoo artist do not need an artistic background?
15.)What needs to be in my portfolio? (What would be impressive, i.e. would a painting or drawing show more skill for this art? Or is it all just a collaboration of many medias?)
16.)How much do you hate Miami ink for giving off the tattoo artist’s life as being rich n famous? Hahajk but can u give a quick summery on what it’s really like?
17.)Do you have any questions? Extra comments?
On my own terms: (these aren’t direly important to my paper but would be nice to know. if they piss you off to the point of not replying at all please ignore them!)
1.)assure me that there are no great tattoo artist that don’t know the history and timeline of this art..
2.)is it right to kick someone’s ass for give ignorant 15 year olds tattoos w/ no training, no artistic ability, license, medical knowledge... pretty much she just a 16 year old girl that was randomly given a cheap $100 tattoo kit from god knows who and thinks she can tattoo the whole fucking world! *$^&#gahh@#$! *rips eyes out*.. what I really what to know is would be a smart move to call the police on her ass cuz she has already infected one of her friend’s leg and of course doesn’t give a flying fuck so therez no end in sight of her stopping any time soon, and if I do call, what are the chances that anything will be done about it?
3.)ok will some please answer me this?! DO YOU or DON’T YOU bend the needle a little before placing it in the tube & which side does the needle rest one?(facing away for the machine or toward it?) every time I get a chance to ask this I get confused looks w/ a “what hell are u talking about?” or “your not suppose to do that..” but then I got other times where I get the infamous quote “Get an apprenticeship”… thanks jack ass, one: I’m not gonna be 18 for a few more mounth & kinda need to get as much practice in as possible & two I don’t want to break my machine again D:<
(god bless’ya for answering these 3 and suppressing half of my stupidity..)
~ thank you so much! :] |

ok thanksss???
haha anyway i'm not spamming the for the school, i know what it's about "be an amazing tattoo artist in 2 weeks!" (that’s also the site where i got the "do u have to be an artist" question from. not surprisingly it say you don't have to be...)
my opinion is that it's a scam and u r mistaken to think this job is a get rich quick scheme
sry if these r a a bit personal, it's fine if u can answer some n not all.
latter?
