Hey all - I'm a new user to this message board. What a great community you have here!

I got a tatoo that I regret when I was a teenager that I'd really like to have covered. I went to a shop today for a consultation with an artist who basically told me that I could really only cover it with a large flower. The problem is that I'm not really all that interested in covering a tatoo that I don't like with another that I don't like.

I'm hoping that some of the talented artists in this forum can help me with some ideas for a coverup.

Here's a link to what I have now: Crying or Very sad

Here's a couple of links to some art that caught my attention when I was looking for new art.

I really like the fairy, but the artist said that it would be very difficult to cover my old tatoo with her.

Things that I wouldn't mind having a tatoo of:
-Feminine things with the exception of flowers
-Stars
-Dragonflies
-Butterflies
-Fairies
-Some feminine tribal designs like the one I linked to above

Worse case scenario if I really need to go with some sort of flower to cover it up, I suppose I could tolerate a lotus or a hibiscus type flower. Something more in the tropical range rather than traditional.

Thank you guys so much for helping me! I really want to get this fixed.

-Cristina

PS: I had to remove all the " from the links because the message board seems to be removing my links if I dont. Question

How big (inches wise) is the old tattoo? I know I am not an artist but I would think the first fairy is doable. It might have to be a little bigger than the image link but I can see it working.

ETA also meant to say ask around at other shops. Just because artist says he can't do it does not mean all artists can't.

Example: I have a black sun on my ankle (horror story behind that one) that was done really really badly. I talked to a few artists about reworking or covering. No one wanted to mess with it because of the size and it was all black. Well my new artist I am working with is willing to tackle it to make it better because I don't want that one covered. So talk to a few artists.

It's about 1 1/2" wide by 1 1/2" tall. Pretty small and on my lower left back area.

For something that tiny, and especially because it doesn't look very dark (at least in the picture), I would think it would be fairly easy to cover-up.

I would think the fairy would work, and if that's the design you like, then I wouldn't settle for something that you like less. Perhaps it may need some variations in the background to help cover it, but that's not a big deal.

I would find a different artist and ask their opinion. Look for one who's been around awhile, as they would probably have a lot of experience with cover-ups.
