Hello everyone! I got a tattoo 9 days ago. It became infected about 3 days afterwards. The tattoo artist was diluting the ink with green soap. Alot of green soap! The shop owner said the it was common practice to do that. I have 13 tattoos and never seen another artist dilute ink with green soap. Also, the tattooist was "priming" my skin by tattooing it with plain water before grey washing. He said it was a new technique he heard about and that it would make the grey wash look better. Well, it hurt like hell and the water he was using was in a non disposable re-usable plastic cup. Like a plastic drinking cup someone would have in their cabinet at home. He just finished his apprenticeship. Two months ago he tattooed a girl that I know and she got an infection too. Coincidence??? I think not! I was told by my doctor that I have cellulitis and am now on a double strength antibiotic and antibiotic ointment for 20 days! Any comments about this would be appreciated. Is any of this common practice??? Thanks!

Welcome to the forum!

Sorry, don't know much about either using green soap to dilute, or the priming with water...hope fully someone on here does! I just know that the times I've been in, I've never had either method used on me.

Good luck and hope you heal quickly!

you know... they told me I had cellulitus at the hospital... and you know what? It turned out they didn't want it to be what it was... Staph. so they didn't tell me that's probably what it was.... so I had to stay a week in another hospital with no food because it was of my lip... (random and not attached to anything at all) but I am just saying be careful. And maybe get a second opinion if it gets even a little purple anything.

you dont use greensoap or water to make grey wash that i have EVER heard of i use witch hazel to dilute with you can also use alcohol, rose water, or distilled water
i cant really see using greensoap to dilute with causing an infection either though so i couldnt say that the two are related

What the **** i have never heard of useing green soap to dilute ink. And i have never heard of priming someone's body by tattooing them with just plain water- not to mention in a plastic cup that you don't know is sterile or not. If i were you i don't think i would go back to him.
