Hello !
I live in NSW Australia near Shellharbour. I am looking for a tattoo artist who is willing to take me on as an apprentice.

I havn't tattoo'd before but have been drawing since i was a small kid. I am very very dedicated to tattooing and am very keen on getting started in the business.

I have just started my last year of schooling and even if I do not leave school i would even jump at the chance to work part time in a store cleaning / doing anything no matter how small or to begin the apprenticeship but coming in part time after school hours or on weekends.

I am very very interested and keen on getting into the profession and very serious about it.

I am constantly visiting tattoo shops and asking this but really need a leg up and thought this would be a good place to ask for anyone nearby.

I am currently constructing a port folio of my work.

Thankyou ! Smile

good luck! i went to every shop in my town and near by towns ,there was a artist position in the paper and my freind turned me on to it , i got the balls up to go down and talk to the guy,(i had allready done some tats the wrong way,and wanted to start doin them the right way)i had 3 pics to show him, he wasnt impressed, or at least he didnt seem that way ,after all i had proly done only 10 tats at that time. he said he didnot do apprenticing because they allways lost intrest or couldnt pay for it or after a little while they opened up another shop in the same town and ended up being competition.
i told him about a school that i was gonna pay $4500 to go to , it was 6 weeks long and in louisiana,he said Laughing and there is noway u can learn how to tattoo in 6 weeks , isaid well, ima do it anyway, and told him if he changed his mind to give me a call before tax time cuz thats when ima do it. that was in bout 3 weeks . he called me that weekend and told me he thought i had talent and to come in to talk on monday.the rest of the story u can read in my introduction.
good luck bro!!

Damn thats awesome you finally found a break. Thanks very much but it looks like i'll just keep being a client rather then an artist by the looks of things. Starting to broaden my vision a little bit so i have something i can go into if ( and seemingly inevitably ) i dont get into the tattoo world.
Thus far Hotel Management looks promising for me Wink All tats would be concieled with no problem.

Thanks for the wish of luck i appreciate it alot, and its great to hear you found a break ! Smile

Dont give up that easy bloke? keep at your drawing, and adding to your P/F. Go and get tattooed yourself. Watch. Learn. Ask sensible questions. There is alot you will need to know. Proper sterile techniques, Machine set up, Stencils, needles, how to make them and what to use for different styles. There are some fantastic artists in aussy. There will always be room for the newcomers. Dont give up your dream mate. You just never know? Wink
