They say that being allergic to tattoo ink is quite rare.......... If you have any known allergic reactions best to consult your chosen parlour to explain the ingredients in the ink.
I would think the main reason as to why people think they are allergic is because they haven't taken care of the tattoo !?
Hope this helps a little................

I had a reaction to orange ink in my koi on my arm , i have spoken to the artist numerous times about it we both agreed it was some kind of allergic reaction , the ink seemed to push itself out while healing ..it has fully healed no and the orange is patchy and i can see the scaring where the orange should be .....we are going to rework it with a different orange and see how it goes .
this was not a case of bad after care , the rest of the tat has healed perfectly , the red and yellow either side of the orange are perfect , was just the one colour .
It must have just been the brand or shade of orange too , i have a huge tiger on my leg and one on my chest , all with out a problem . |

DickyKnee,
Wow, that's pretty spun out. Amazing story dude.
Just the luck of the draw I guess !? All goes on the brands and the ingredients doesn't it............
Hope the touch up does the trick. Would love to see a pic of the finished deal |

Ink is totally unregulated. Pigments range from metal oxides to synthetic organic dyes. Inks most commonly reacted to are reds and yellows.
I read a while back where a tattoo artist became allergic to the pigment of yellow ink.. and he had like over 50 tattoos !!! and on top of that it was a year later before he had the reaction!! so you never really know.
Ink that you've become allergic to can be removed by a doctor using a laser but most people just deal with it and use allergy creams and so on when they need to. Some only get a reaction in the summer in hot weather and use topical anti-histamine.
I guess I've been lucky the 10 on my right arm & leg ( My color side) has a lot of red & yellow among other colors. while the 12 on my left arm& leg are all black & gray. My neck peice has just about all colors in it LOL boy would that have been a bad spot for a reaction |
