| i have had purple, it faded quite badly and i had to have it done again, same thing happened again - but this may be due to the tattooist being really shoddy...i had a darker purple in another tattoo and it has stayed fine. i would say that it depends on the ink type and how good the tattooist is. |

| I know where you live is quite warm and sunny at times. And a lot does depend on the place you are getting it done. As all colours will fade, if they are in the dierct sunlight all the time. But if it's only going to see the light of day a few time's you should be right. My wife had purple on her and it the purple part is only ever expose when she changes cloths or if she is wearing a open neck top. Then only some is showing. Just like you she has got blue also and the same thing with that to. So if you're not in the sun all the time things should be fine. The Tattman. |

| I have had purple on my arms for around 12-13 years and it is fine , but i have not sat around in the sun for 12-13 years either .So if you look after your skin it should be fine |

A lot of times a color will fade more depending on what metals are used to create the pigment, so it can vary depending on what shade of purple you decide to use and the manufacturer of the ink. Also, some peoples' skin have different reactions to the metals which can effect the way the tattoo heals. I had a very small reaction to the purple that was used in one of my tattoos which cause it to scab more than normal and some of the color fell out. All I can say is to try it and see what happens. I know that all the artists around here give free touch ups if anything happens to it. If it's the same where you are, then you can just go back after it heals to fix any problems. I'll say what's already been said in the previous posts, the more the tattoo is exposed to the sun, the more likely it is to fade. Just make sure you take extra care while it's healing.
As for which colors to avoid, I've heard that the colors that have the most problems are the reds and greens. I've personally had no problem with red, but both my husband and myself have had problems with every tattoo that contains green. The rest of the tattoo heals fine, but the green scabs really bad, takes longer to heal and often looks inflammed. This, of course, is our personal experience and could be different for others. |

I have got a tattoo on my left and right bicep. And when I was younger I was alway's working outside. And this was before and after our government bought in the laws to say roadworkers have to wear those bright coloured vest. I alway threw mine off once the boss was out of sight. I thought it just gave drivers a better target to aim for.
Well anyway, in summer I was always without anything on my top half. And both my tattoos have faded. They actuall look close to black sploches now.
So I will be getting cover overs done in the future. 1st one is planned soon. But yer the sunlight is bad for tattoo's. That is it was, as now you have to dress like a bright lollypop. |
