Well, good thing I found this forum, I'm a teen on the verge of getting my own tattoos. now a little bit about myself. I'm 16 years of age, I live in Midland, Michigan. I like to read, hunt, target practice, do sword "yoga" ride bike, etc. I also have a unique and intricate religion, which brings me back to the subject of the tattoos I will be getting. they will all be ritualistic in nature, not only that. but they will look dang cool. I will get six. one on each palm, one on the back on my neck, another in the center of my chest, one on my stomach, and the last, and biggest one will be on my back. others might be added over time. the colors themselves will not be very detailed, just plain black, but the detail must be accurate, but I think they should be no problem whatsoever for a decent tattoo artist. now, since I have never had a tattoo, i would like to know some simple things, like, how long does it take for a tattoo to fully heal, and how many sessions it might take for a full back tattoo to be done. as well as the average price for the afore mentioned tattoos (I might be able to get pics of them later) anyways, I'm glad to be here. cya on the forums.

BFD,
16 is too young for a tattoo..
tattoo's are for life, and your skin is still growing...it will stretch them, so wait untill your at least 18..
prices range from, £40---£300 per sitting....or more...
healing is usually two weeks...
As for palm tattoo's. it wont work...you cant tattoo on your palms... it will fade all the time until there is nothing left....you use your hands all the time...so wear and water will get rid of them...so its a waste of money and time...

BFD, It is really cool that you so enthusastic about you religious beliefs and tattoo art. However, I have to agree with Chic when she said to wait. Although you are very passionate about your religion now, you may feel differently as you grow and experience life. Then again you might now, but if you feel really devoted to your beliefs and see them as a life long staple in your life, may I suggest getting something small that is a representation of what you belive in. More about the age thing, I'm not sure about Michigan, but in most states you have to be 18 years old, if not 21 to get inked. Sure there might be people who will do it for you while you are still under age, but chances are there work isn't very good and you don't want anything done by them, especially nothing meaningful.

In regard to your questions, healing varies from person to person and area. You also need to avoid going to the beach or soaking in water for about the first 8-12 weeks of having a tat. Price varies due to size and color. The bigger and more intricate the design the more pricey. Before you get anything done take pictures of what you want done to a few credible local shops, let 'em know what you want and where. Most tattoo artists are really nice about giving you are price. Hope that helps. Let us know what you decide and good luck.
