Hi Eveyone,

I just got a tattoo (permanent make-up- eyebrows) and the technician promised me the dark color would fade in two weeks. I absolutly hate it! I am a redhead and I now look like someone put two streaks of black magic marker over my eyes. I think I look like Joan Crawford from Mommie Dearest. These things need to fade 80 to 90 percent to be near my liking and what would look natural for me, but I read everywhere that they will only fade slightly, like 20% or so.

I have also read that it is important to keep fresh tattoos away from salt water and glycolic acid to keep the ink from fading. My question is can I go ahead and apply salt water or over-the-counter glycolic acid to my eyebrows to help them fade? I am on day three. They are healing fast and there is no scabing. I think I look like a freak and I am so scared there will be nothing I can do. Crying or Very sad

Damn, I'm not sure on that one. They're not called permanent make up tattoos for nothing.

You'd probably better off going to the person who gave you the tattoo's & ask for their advice. Don't be embarrassed, they won't (shouldn't) be!

At day three the colour will look far deeper than once it has healed trust me.

Dont do anything to intentional fade the ink as this could result in scarring and blotchy colouration not what you want on your boat race.

Leave it alone for at least two weeks if you still think it is to dark then go back to whoever applied or another proffesional tattoist and discuss with them any options for a lighter colour rework

Try not to worry, its a tattoo, they will look dark..
But if its healing good, and there are no scabs, why dont you try and put a bit of foundation on your whole face, that should tone it down, until it settles...
may i ask why they used black, and not a Red Brown colour for your eyebrows, if your red head wont they be ermmm red. Exclamation

Honestly, dont worry...

Did it hurt, as i was thinking of having mine done, and what did you pay for it...cheers Razz

I have been putting foundation over them and the color has toned down with that. The color she applied was more of an auburn than a black but but it looks like black to me. When I put the foundation on them they end up looking blue and then I put brown eyeshadow on over that and wear my bangs down into my eyes to help cover them.

My friends and husband says they look good but I think they are just saying that to make me feel better. This is day 5 and the initial peel has occured and some of the pigment has came off with that. But they are still way too dark. The problem is now instead of waking up everday and drawing my eyebrows on with a pencil, I will now have the rest of my life to wake up everyday and apply foundation over them to tone them down. This was not my goal.

I will wait the full two weeks and see if they fade anymore and go back to the technician to tell her they are too dark for my liking. I doubt there is anything she can do. We spent a a good hour going over the color before hand and each time she painted the pigment on my face she said the end result would be lighter. She was never able to show me an example of the color after all the healing and fading occurs. All she said is "I promise they will be lighter". Well, they are lighter but not light enough! Sigh!

The pain? The physical pain was nothing compared to my psychological pain. I have not been able to sleep and I have been so depressed. This was very expensive too. I did my upper eyelids as well (that was painful) and I am happy with those results. Both procedures totalled $1,000.
